Campus Book Rentals and Operation Smile

As a former college student I know that the cost of required books for each course is monumental. Really, it is, and I am still paying for it.

It’s great to know there are other resources beside the campus bookstore that will allow you to save a bundle of money by purchasing your books from there.

campusbookrentals

CampusBookRentals.com offers books at 40-90% off of bookstore prices and they offer free shipping both ways.

The rental periods are flexible and they will even let you highlight as you wish. One of my favorite features of CampusBookRentals.com is that they donate to  Operation Smile with each book rental.

operation smile

Operation Smile helps children all around the world who are born with facial deformities.

You can find out more about Operation Smile here.

Make sure you check out CampusBookRentals.com for all of your college book purchasing needs today and help support Operation Smile.

There is also a great new program at RentBack.com where students can rent their own textbook to other students. This option allows them to make more money than they would selling their book back. Everybody wins!

Printerpix Mounted Photo Poster Review

Danielle from Printerpix.com sent me a Mounted Photo Poster to review. {ARV $50.99}

printerpix Collage

I had to simply upload a photo onto their website and order. It was a very easy process and I would be able to do so again easily.

I wanted something for my master bedroom in the accent color we chose so I decided to create a text image instead of using a typical photo.

I used some lyrics from my husband and I’s wedding song and added our wedding date at the bottom.

printerpix

I think it came out really well and very clear. I was a little worried that the small text characters wouldn’t translate well but they are not blurry at all!

I am waiting for my husband to create some kind of frame for it as a finishing touch so we can actually hang it on the wall but you can see that it is going to be a fun accent to our neutral bedroom.

You can purchase a Mounted Photo Poster, Canvas or many other awesome items from Printerpix.com and get 40% off with Coupon Code: MAMAPIX  through 12/31/2013.

Babytime! by Episencial Sunny Sunscreen Review

Christina from Episencial sent me some of their Babytime! By Episencial Sunny Sunscreen to review.sunny sunscreen Collage

Unlike many other sunscreens out there, Sunny Sunscreen is mineral based and safe on your children’s skin.

It also provides UVA/UVB protection, is water resistant and protects at SPF 35.

We spent all of Saturday outside playing and Sunny Sunscreen was put to the test. The kids were outside in the hot sun, splashing in the pool and at the end of the day, sunburn-free!

This stuff really works!

Check out this video about Babytime! products:

You can order Sunny Sunscreen or any of the other great skincare products online.

Skoy Scrub Review

Michelle from Skoy sent me a 2-pack of their Skoy Scrub to review. {ARV $5.99}

skoy Collage

This is a reusable scouring scrub pad that cleans most surfaces without scratching.

I have to say that I am really impressed with this little scrubber. I didn’t think I would like it more than any other scrubber, but I really do!  Why do I like it?

DSCF5821

It works. I don’t have a working dishwasher so everything is handwashed here. The hardest items for me to clean, and that often need multiple scrubbings are my crock pot, casserole dishes and cast iron. Sometimes, no matter how hard I scrub I just cannot get these things clean.

DSCF5826

Using the Skoy Scrub I was able to get my hard to wash dishes cleaner than I have with any other product. Even my husband said that they were awesome. He even stole my 2nd scrub and gave it to his mom for Mother’s Day because he liked it so much.

I have to say that I think I am hooked on Skoy Scrubs and will probably be buying more. You can purchase some through their website or on Amazon. They also have cleaning cloths in multiple sizes too.

What Products Review

I was sent a sampler of What Products to review.

what Collage

These products were created by

For The Earth Corporation which “was founded on the idea of producing products with a purpose while maintaining eco-friendly standards.”

I really loved each product and how well they worked.

Pictured above you can see my daughter’s shoes that were stained with mud. I had already washed these in the washing machine once without any pretreating. They still looked pretty stained as the top picture shows so I sprayed them with What Stain and just let them sit. When I came back the stains were almost gone (bottom picture) and I didn’t even scrub or anything. I was hooked.

I also really love how the What Odor works as well. I have been spraying it all over the house and love not having to worry about chemicals if the kids are in the room. It really works too. There is no way to convey my feelings through a picture but I am sure you can imagine it on your own.

We have enjoyed using the other products all over our house, cars and whatever else we can get our hands on. The possibilities are endless.

I highly recommend these What Products to you for your cleaning needs and just love that they are biodegradable, non-toxic, etc.

Earth’s Berries Soap Nuts Review

Karen from Earth’s Berries sent me a sample bag to review.

earths berries logo

I have used soap nuts before so I was already familiar with how they work.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, then check out the video here to find out about these nuts that are actually not nuts at all.

earths berries Collage

I used these with my regular laundry and cloth diaper laundry as well. Everything came out super clean and that’s the bottom line. What else can you ask for in a laundry detergent? Actually, it gets even better.

Not only do they clean your clothes, these berries are 100% natural and gentle on your skin.  You can even throw them out into your yard when you are done with them. Read more about the environmental benefits here.

Overall, I am totally impressed with Earth’s Berries Soap Nuts and recommend them to you for all of your laundering needs.

You can also check out the other cleaning products that Earth’s Berries makes here.

Flats and Handwashing Challenge Day 7

Yes, it’s true I am putting away my favorite pockets, AIO’s and AI2′s for a week to embark on the Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. What does this mean? It means that I will be using only flat diapers (single layer of fabric) on my little for an entire week AND I have to hand wash these diapers! You’re jealous, I know. Put on your seat belt because this is going to be a bumpy ride.

flats challenge

Woohoo, I did it! It’s the final day of the challenge and my little is in bed with her last diaper of the challenge. I am happy to say that I completed this challenge in that I did handwash every single diaper.  Also, I did not use my normal cloth diapers once, though I did miss them. However, I do have to confess that a few disposable diapers were used. They were only used for special circumstance and I would have used them had I not been doing the challenge so I think that is ok.

I am glad that to have gone though this challenge and have a better appreciation for my favorite diapers and, of course, my washing machine.

We have lived in several apartments where we had to pay to use public washers and dryers and it was not fun. I can remember handwashing clothing in my bathroom because I didn’t have a whole load and didn’t want to waste my precious quarters.

With that said, I know, if I had to that I could handwash my diapers, but it would get old pretty quick.

A big thanks to Kim from Dirty Diaper Laundry for hosting this event and I hope that you have been inspired in some way, as I have been, from this experience.

flats challenge

Yesterday I told you what has been working for us, and what has not. Today is an open topic and I wanted to briefly share my thoughts on line drying cloth diapers.

IMG_20130525_144626

It has been frustratingly rainy for the better part of this challenge here in NC which has not made things easy. As you know, I have only been using 6 flats and 5 covers. Someone this morning I only has 1 dry flats and no dry covers. I can’t figure out the math.

I have also confessed to only using the pad fold but since I had not covers I was forced to use a different fold and Snappi the diaper on. I think I made up my own version of the bikini fold and I am very thankful that there was no pooping happening while this was on.

Today we had some glorious weather so I was able to line dry my flats and covers in no time and that’s the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it.

For the better part of the year I am able to line dry my diapers as it doesn’t get too cold around these parts for very long. I am thankful for that and know that it has saved us some money on our electricity bill. Now if only I could figure out a way to wash the diapers without water, then we would really see some savings.

What about you? Are you able to line dry most of the year?
